Cheesy carrot scramble eggs
SUITABLE FOR
Babies above 9 months (only the yolk) or toddlers (whole egg)Ingredients
Two eggs (use only the yolk unless your child is already okay with whole eggs)
Half a medium-large carrot (peeled and wash)
Cheese (hard cheese like cheddar, Edam, Gouda or mozarella is good)
Fresh milkMethod
- Crack two eggs and mix in a bowl. If your kiddo can only take egg yolks, then you’ll have to separate the yolk from the white first.
- Grate the carrot and cheese into the egg yolk mix before adding about 20 to 50ml of milk.
- Using a non-stick pan, fry everything – scramble is the term – until cooked.
- Serve as it or with pasta, veg and even rice.
STORAGE NOTES
You could make these for storage but again, they are fast to put together so I prefer to make these fresh.

Hi Mabel, babies below 9 months, they can’t take eggs? Do you know what is the reason?

Eggs are considered one of the top 8 allergens, and baby’s tummy starts to mature from 8 mths onwards. So it’s better to wait till later to introduce egg yolks and then at around 11-12 mths, egg whites. If there is a history of allergies in the family, then better to wait till after 12 mths.
Also the added protein in baby’s diet means you need to balance it out with more water to avoid overloading baby’s kidneys. Not a good idea as a starter food and especially more so if your baby doesn’t like water.
