Review: Cloth diapers & poo
|December 11, 2009||Posted by Mabel under Cloth diapers, Reviews|
When I did the review on the cloth diapers nearly a month ago, I was cycling through a few, had just started CDing and often, never experienced how they would work should Eva did her big do on them. Now, a month on, a few poo episodes and definitely days of using CDs later, I’ve decided to update my reviews to include how the brands would work with poo episodes. Still missing though from the review is the Grobaby brand as I am awaiting the arrival of new prints and extra boosters to add to my current shell set.
Note that I use nappy liners with all my cloth diapers.
This one leaked ONCE and that was because Nil didn’t really place the insert all the way inside the cover so when it got pretty absorbent, the part that was sticking out at the back sort of wet Eva’s romper resulting in me having to change her and all that. But otherwise, it contained poo really well and is rather easy to wash off/remove stains.
This one leaked once as well (same reason as per above) but held poo in fairly well. I used GAD inserts for this.
I love the front zipper (which results in the absence of open-ends at either end of the diaper cover) when it comes to removing heavily soiled inserts! The absence of open-ends means that each insert is contained well and that minimizes the risk of leakages, particularly if you have a hubby who doesn’t really places the inserts WITHIN the covers! I used GAD inserts for this as well as nappy liners so the tight fit resulted in poop being contained within the diaper.
I experienced a leakage with this one only ONCE but it was mainly because it was nearly the end of 3 hours, I was about to change her diaper when she unleashed about three days worth of poo. It leaked mostly around the legs but otherwise, everything else was okay. The stains get bleached off after a few hours in the sun, and it ends up looking pristine as if I just bought the diaper! The diapers are also easy to wash in terms of getting rid of poop residue so it wasn’t all that bad.
So far no leaks and very easy to clean – maybe it’s because of the cover they place over the insert opening. It’s also easy to wash off residues due to its less bulky nature.
No leaks there due to the tight fit and placement of the insert opening. But the thicker material definitely does it make a little harder to wash off poo residue before dumping them into the machine.
My pick for the diaper that handles poop scoop really well so far? bumGenius 3.0 wins it hands down followed by Happy Heinys and FuzziBunz®…
